Shopify is one of the most popular online store platforms today. As per stats, there are over 600,000 merchants using online stores powered by Shopify. It is also increasingly popular among the new entrepreneurs who wish to try their hand in online commerce.

One of the greatest disadvantages that most e-commerce platforms face is that the possibility to create anything out of the ordinary is very limited. But not with Shopify. One of the greatest features of this platform is that it has an App store where you can find 3rd party developers build free and free apps that you can integrate with Shopify. Also, Shopify helps you to develop your own ‘private apps’.

If you think that developing a Shopify App is too difficult, be assured that it is not. Well, here are some tips that can help make your Shopify App Development much easier:

  • Decide the App’s Purpose – If you are developing an app for your needs, or for your client, make sure that you have all the answers as to why the app is being developed with all the features that it is intended to have. If you are developing it to be sold publicly on the Shopify App Store, you should do some research as to what the merchants need and want. Based on all the information collected, you can work on features that support the purpose of your app.

  • Create a Feature List – After determining the purpose of the app, you can finalize the features that the app would need. You can write down all the ideas and collect all the sources you can find. The best practice would be to have small and minimal features, because you can later expand the list as you want.

  • Create a Timeline – Next step is to create a timeline and an estimate as to when you would be able to complete the task. This can help you adjust the pace of work accordingly. Also, take into consideration the possibl challenges that you could face.

  • Use other Tools – Instead of creating everything from scratch, you can search for off-the-shelf tools and libraries. This can help in making things go much faster. The Shopify App library can act as a skeleton and it would also include most of the components you need to authenticate with Shopify. If you are planning to build an app just for your store, you can look into private Shopify Apps for aid.

Once all these are completed, you can start developing your app and soon it would be ready for launch. Well, developing a Shopify App is not a hard as you thought it would be, isn’t it? Follow these steps and develop a feature-rich app that you wish.
